The Park District has been awarded TWO grants to develop the lower ponds and area! The two grants come from Ohio Public Works / NRAC program and Ohio Capital Improvements grant totaling over $500,000. The general concept includes a fishing pond and pier and the land surrounding the pond will be restored back to a quality wetland/stream. The Park District is working with the County Commissioners in acquiring the Engineer and finalizing the Plan. The project is to be completed by early 2024 with work starting in 2023. Watch for more details.
The Park District thanks State Rep. Scott Wiggam for his help in securing the Ohio Capital Improvements grant. Plus we could not have gotten the OWPC/NRAC grant without the support and approval from the Wayne County Commissioners. The Commissioners have been generous with their legal assistance, contribution, and oversight of the process. We look forward to working with them as the project takes off !
LATEST UPDATE: AECOM (Engineering company) of Cleveland has won the bid for Phase I of the lower pond development. Surveying to start in late March. Plans are to be breaking ground in May once all the surveying and permits are done.
